Thanks everyone for their comments and emails with welcoming me to blog land. This is really such an exciting time. I am amazed at all the ways we can connect. It 's ironic that when the use of computers became popular, many thought this would be isolating. Today the opposite is true. In the past few days I have also set up Twitter as another way to connect and communicate. I am feeling a little challenged by all this. While I have some basic tech skills, I am experiencing a real learning curve. This feeling of challenge was the inspiration behind my journal page from today.
Loving the stencilry class. It feels good to be free and just let a piece go without having any preconceived ideas about how a piece should look when finished. I surrender to the spray paint and it is addictive. Here is a journal entry made with stencils.
I am still tying to use stencils and make them my own. I like taking classes and learning a new process. I think the challenge is to incorporate the technique into your work without making it look exactly like your instructor's work. Any ideas on how you have made this transition? How do you take what you have learned in a class and make it your own?
So much fun! One of the reasons I started this blog was to share the art I was producing in the online Stencilry class from Mary Ann Moss at Dispatch from LA. Check out her site here - http://dispatchfromla.typepad.com/. The class is four weeks long. What a value. Mary Ann has packed so much in the first two weeks with many, many videos and pdfs. That aside- spray painting and stenciling is a riot. I have posted my artwork on the sidebar in Stencil fun.
PS... Spray paint can be removed from granite counters with Lava Liquid Soap. YIKES!
I have been creating art for many years. Art and life for me is all mixed up. I cannot separate them. I don’t want to. Art is no longer just a hobby or a passing whim. It has become a major focus of my life. I have to be creative every day. This blog will be a way to share my creativity and hopefully connect with others who also love to make art. I hope you will share your thoughts and insights with me by leaving a comment or sending me an email.
